One person is dead, several are injured after a car crashed into an In-N-Out in St. George

A man was killed and several others were injured after a car crashed into an In-N-Out Burger on Saturday in Washington City, near St. George.

Antonio Mendoza, 42, of Las Vegas, was one of several people inside the restaurant when a driver in an SUV struck a pedestrian in the parking lot and then crashed the vehicle into the building.

Investigators believe the driver accidentally accelerated rather than hitting the brake pedal after hitting the pedestrian, Washington City Police Chief Jason Williams.

“We’re still keeping tabs on the other victims and still in the process of doing the investigation with the driver as well,” Williams said. “We haven’t concluded anything yet.”

Four people were taken by ambulance to a hospital, and three others checked themselves into the hospital, police said.
