One dead, one injured in Salt Lake City shooting

One person died and another was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in Salt Lake City.

Gunfire was reported about 8:45 p.m. at the Windsor Park Apartments, 1790 W. 700 North, Sgt. Keith Horrocks said.

Salt Lake City police arrived to find two people with gunshot wounds, a department spokesperson told FOX 13. Both people were taken to Salt Lake City hospitals, where one of them later died and the other was in critical condition, police said. Police identified 56-year-old Leticia Smith as the person who died.

Investigators do not believe there is any further threat to the public, police said.

“There is no outstanding suspect,” Sgt. Keith Horrocks said, but he said he did not know whether the victims are believed to have shot each other or whether one of them suffered self-inflicted wounds.
