Utahns hate Halloween, according to ‘twitter data’ analysis

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) These kids are definitely not among the Utahns who, according to an analysis of twitter data, hate Halloween.

The only state that hates Halloween more than Utah is Oregon, if you believe an analysis of “geotagged twitter data” done by an online travel site.

And, yes, if you drive through just about any neighborhood in Utah and check out the holiday decorations at this time of year, it is more than a bit hard to believe.

(Courtesy of daringplanet.com) Utah is No. 2 on the list of states that most hate Halloween, according to a Twitter study.

Nonetheless, that’s the conclusion that daringplanet.com came to after tracking more than 40,000 tweets posted since Oct. 1 that contained phrases and hashtags about hating Halloween. You know, like, “I hate Halloween.”

The website didn’t share any numbers, but it did share its list of the top-10 Halloween-hating states. Or, at least, the states with the most people who tweet about hating Halloween.

1. Oregon

2. Utah

3. Idaho

4. Hawaii

5. Alaska

6. Nevada

7. West Virginia

8. Michigan
