A TRAX train derailed Tuesday night in downtown Salt Lake City, transit officials confirmed, causing delays throughout Wednesday.
The Red Line car moved off the tracks near 400 South and Main Street, the Utah Transit Authority reported. UTA spokesman Carl Arky said repair crews believed they would have the tracks open and operating in time for the Thursday morning commute.
Arky did not know what caused the derailment.
Passengers on Wednesday took buses or walked around the derailment site to complete their trips. The detours were made even more difficult by the record-low temperatures languished in the teens Wednesday morning along the Wasatch Front.
