First responders rescued an injured 190-pound 3-year-old from Grandeur Peak in Millcreek Canyon on Sunday — an injured, 190-pound 3-year-old dog, that is.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team was alerted about 6:30 p.m. that Floyd, a mastiff, was hurt while walking on the trail with his owner. The owner was unable to carry the large canine to safety, so the team “went into action and headed up the trail to make sure Floyd could get off the mountain … before it got too cold,” according to a Facebook post.

Team members put the dog on a litter and carried him down the mountain. “Floyd was a good boy and happy to be assisted,” according to the post. “Hopefully, Floyd will be up and hiking again soon!”

According to the rescue team, Floyd was “very tired but will be just fine.”
