Fugitive shot and arrested at Layton Hills Mall

A man was shot and arrested outside the Layton Hills Mall on Tuesday after being tracked there and approached by U.S. marshals.

U.S. Marshal Matthew Harris told FOX 13 that the 28-year-old fugitive was being sought on a number of felony violations, including aggravated burglary, and was believed to be armed and dangerous.

When approached, the man entered a vehicle and began ramming nearby police and mall patron cars. Officers fired on the man and injured him, and he was transported to a local hospital, according to FOX 13.

At roughly 3:45 p.m., the Layton Police Department tweeted that there was no additional threat to the public. The shooting is being investigated by the Davis County Critical Incident Protocol Team with assistance from Layton police, the department said.
