Behind the Headlines: Utah lawmakers respond to the impeachment inquiry and state officials remove a costly component from proposed Lake Powell Pipeline

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune File Photo) Officials from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) began a two-day site visit in southern Utah Tuesday, examining the 139-mile route of the proposed Lake Powell Pipeline on September 20, 2016. Utah officials announced Sept. 25, 2019 it would remove the hydropower components from the proposed pipeline, saving $100 million in the process.

Utah’s members of Congress react to the launch of an official impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. State officials significantly alter their plans for the Lake Powell Pipeline. And a Utah coal mine is expected to resume production — with an eye to overseas markets.
