TRAX train collides with car, creates commuter delays in Murray

Commuters were faced with delays on Monday morning after a TRAX train and a car collided near the Murray Central Station, 140 W. Vine St.

The woman who was driving the car was critically injured in the accident about 8:30 a.m., according to UTA spokesman Carl Arky. An 8-year-old child who was a passenger in the car received lacerations, and both were taken to a hospital. No on on the train was hurt.

UTA sent buses to carry passengers between the Murray North, Murray Central and Fashion Place stations, creating what it called “minimal TRAX delays.” Some passengers, however, tweeted that delay were 30 minutes or longer.

At 10:10 a.m., UTA tweeted that the a TRAX shuttle was running “between Murray North and Fashion Place while the safety inspection continues.” At 12:16, UTA tweeted that full service had been restored.
