Cha Cha — the chihuahua that was reportedly dognapped from a Utah restaurant — has been returned

(Photo courtesy West Valley City Police Department) Cha Cha was stolen from a restaurant.

Cha Cha the chihuahua — reportedly stolen from a Cafe Rio in West Valley City early this month — was returned to her owner Tuesday.

The dog’s owner stopped at the restaurant at 3567 S. 2700 West on July 11 and took Cha Cha — in an animal carrier — inside. According to West Valley police, a woman was filmed on surveillance camera as she “grabbed the dog’s carrier from the seating area when the owner stepped away for a moment and took off with the dog.”

The unidentified woman, in a black shirt and ripped jeans, is seen on surveillance with two other women and two small children.

Police said a person “associated with those” who took the dog helped to return her to her owners, adding “there may have been confusion about whether the dog was attended.”

Officers are still investigating.
