Thinking a nearby house was being robbed, a thoughtful neighbor called police Saturday.

The “burglar" was a real turkey.

On Saturday, Lone Peak police were dispatched to a “burglary in progress" after the resident heard a window break at the home next door, where the owners were away, according to a department Facebook post.

A short time later, officers arrived and found a window broken, the posts says. Officers found an open door and began to clear the house, finding the “suspect” lying on the living room floor.

“They were able to locate the suspect who sustained major injuries breaking through the window.”

The department did not say how it disposed of the bird. But “fowl play" was involved.
