An Orem greenhouse worker dies in an unusual industrial accident

A man was killed Thursday morning when a pressurized tank exploded while he was spraying a greenhouse, Orem police said.

Police identified the victim as 39-year-old Efren Perez-Sanchez, according to FOX 13. He was spraying a mixture of water and lime from a pressurized tank sometime after 8 a.m. at Cook’s Farm and Greenhouse, at 1645 W. 1600 North in Orem. Then the tank, “for want of a better word, exploded,” said Lt. Trent Colledge of the Orem police.

The tank hit the man in the head. He died at the scene, Colledge said. Other workers saw the incident, but no one else was injured.
