Woman arrested in connection with death of Utah 3-year-old

A Vernal woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and child abuse in connection with the March death of a 3-year-old, Vernal Police said Thursday.

The woman, 24, was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree felony aggravated murder and second-degree felony child abuse.

“This arrest was the result of an investigation which began with the suspicious death of a 3-year-old child on March 14,” police wrote in a news release.

Police declined to provide further details, such as the name of the child or the cause of death. Police said they would provide more information Sunday.
