Police have made an arrest after a woman was shot to death Tuesday afternoon in a home in Provo.

Michael Taylor Robinson, 27, was booked into the Utah County Jail for investigation of murder, according to court documents.

According to Provo police, the department received reports of a shooting at about 4 p.m. Tuesday at 370 E. Center Street. Officers found Freya Larsen, 27, had been shot once in the head, police said. She was taken to Utah Valley Hospital, where she died.

According to a probable cause statement, Robinson and Larsen were involved in an “altercation" in the living room of her apartment when Robinson “pulled out a gun that he owned and was carrying at the time. ... He pointed the gun at the victim as she stood near the front door and pulled the trigger.

In a call to 911, Robinson admitted he killed Larsen. He said “she scared him and he shot her”; he later admitted that he shot her “but it was an accident.” Robinson told police he was fighting with Larsen and “she told him she was going to kill him.”

According to police, the gun used in the shooting was the “only accessible weapon” in the apartment. “Two other handguns were located at the crime scene, but they were both packed away in a moving box.”
