As expected, CBS has announced that Marie Osmond will be a new host of CBS’ “The Talk.”

She’ll join the show’s panel when it begins its 10th season in the fall, sitting alongside Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. Osmond will replace Sara Gilbert, who’s leaving the show after nine seasons.

“It is such a joy for me to be joining ‘The Talk’ in September. After guest co-hosting and appearing as a guest on the show throughout the years, I am thrilled to now call this my day job,” Osmond said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to working with Sharon, Sheryl, Eve and Carrie Ann, who are such smart, strong, talented women whom I immensely respect. I cannot wait to share this exciting new chapter with the viewers and the CBS family.”

Osmond won’t exactly be a newcomer to “The Talk.” She’s been a guest co-host more than 40 times, according to CBS.

“If you’ve seen Marie Osmond guest host on ‘The Talk’ over the past nine seasons, you know she’s the perfect addition to the show,” said Angelica McDaniel, CBS’ executive vice president of daytime programs. “Marie’s impressive career accomplishments have endeared her to fans throughout the decades. Her willingness to be authentic and share personal triumphs and struggles with honesty in the hopes of helping others always resonates.”

Osmond and her brother, Donny, hosted their own daytime talk show — titled “Donny and Marie” — from 1998-2000. The siblings are wrapping up their longtime Las Vegas engagement in November; Marie Osmond will commute between that city and Los Angeles, where “The Talk” is taped, until then.

“The Talk” airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on KUTV-Channel 2.
