Police have arrested Darryn Byrd after finding 46-year-old Belinda Thomas dead in a West Valley City home Saturday evening.
After a 5-year-old child who lives in the area and came to the home after the attack called 911, officers went to a trailer home near 3300 Chester Park Drive and found Thomas with multiple stab wounds, police said. They began life-saving efforts but were not able to revive Thomas.
Byrd apparently knew Thomas and had been also living in the trailer, though the relationship between the two of them is unclear, according to officials.
Byrd has been charged with aggravated murder, child abuse, obstruction of justice, domestic violence in the presence of a child and possession of a weapon by a restricted person.
