University of Utah police searching for man who staked out, knocked down victim to steal laptop on campus

University of Utah police are looking for a man who stole a newly purchased laptop from a university bookstore patron Saturday, FOX 13 reports.

The theft occurred just after 2:10 p.m. at a parking lot near the Marriott Library, police told FOX 13.

Surveillance footage shows the alleged thief had been watching a patron shopping at the bookstore and followed him to the parking lot, where the suspect grabbed the victim “in a bear hug” and stole the computer after a struggle.

The suspect left in a waiting gray Toyota Camry.
