Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin chain of companies, added to roster of keynote speakers for Qualtrics’ X4 conference in Salt Lake City

(John Locher | The Associated Press) Virgin Group founder Richard Branson speaks at a news conference Friday, March 30, 2018, in Las Vegas. Virgin Hotels announced that it had bought the Hard Rock hotel and casino in Las Vegas.

Billionaire and philanthropist Sir Richard Branson is joining the line-up of keynote speakers — along with former President Barack Obama and media mogul Oprah Winfrey — for Qualtrics’ X4 conference in Salt Lake City next March.

The event, X4, The Experience MGMT Summit, set for March 5-8, 2019, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City. The annual event is put on by Qualtrics International Inc., the Provo-based customer-survey software company.

Besides Branson, Obama and Winfrey, conference attendees will be treated to a “warehouse party” headlined by Imagine Dragons.

Branson made his fortune as founder of Virgin Records, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Virgin Media, Virgin Galactic, Virgin Hotels and scores of other companies, usually with the Virgin name. He has used his wealth and fame to champion environmental and human rights causes. According to Forbes magazine, he has a fortune just under $5 billion.

Going to X4 will require spending like a tycoon. A conference pass goes for $1,399, though there’s an early-bird special available through Dec. 31 that takes the price down to $999.

Last month, the German software company SAP announced it will acquire Qualtrics for $8 billion in cash.
