A flight bound for Paris from Salt Lake City had to turn around shortly after takeoff and head back to Salt Lake City International Airport on Saturday after hitting a group of birds.

Delta Airlines said in a statement to FOX 13 that flight 248 encountered birds during its ascent.

“The flight landed safely and returned to the gate, where customers deplaned normally,” Delta said.

The flight didn’t take off again, an airport spokesperson said.
