The family of Maj. Brent Taylor has announced a public viewing Friday and a public funeral for the North Ogden mayor killed in Afghanistan — both at the Dee Events Center on the campus of Weber State University.

Taylor, 39, was killed Nov. 3 while training an Afghan Army commando battalion near Kabul. He was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan and fourth deployment of his 10-year military career.

According to a release from the Taylor family, his body is scheduled to be returned to Utah on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Salt Lake Air Base. A public viewing is set for Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dee Events Center, with the funeral scheduled there on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The family said everyone is welcome to attend.

After the funeral services, Taylor will be interred at Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden.
