Salt Lake City police identify woman who was stabbed to death

Salt Lake City police have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing on Wednesday as Candace Rose Samples, 20.

The suspect is still at large. The name of a second victim, who was critically wounded, has not yet been released.

According to police, the stabbing took place next to a dumpster behind the Dollar Tree store at 477 N. 300 West shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect and the victims are all reportedly homeless.

The suspect is described as bald, Hispanic, wearing a tan jacket and wearing or carrying a blanket. No knife was recovered at the scene; the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with an information about the stabbing is asked to contact the Salt Lake Police Department.
