Sandy police are asking for the public’s help to find a woman missing for the past week.

According to police, Jan Pearson-Jenkins was last seen by her mother Oct. 4, when she left to go camping with Cody Young in the Silver City-Eureka vicinity in northern Juab County.

Police said that Young messaged Pearson-Jenkins' family on Friday, telling them that he and Pearson-Jenkins had argued and he had left her in that area. Pearson-Jenkins did not have her purse or cellphone, and she was not dressed appropriately for the cold weather, according to police.

Juab County police have been unable to find Pearson-Jenkins; authorities have also been unable to find Young to speak to him about the missing woman.

Pearson-Jenkins is white, 64 years old and between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 4 inches in height. She weights about 130 pounds and has short, grayish-brown hair. She walks slightly hunched over and has two 10-inch scars on her right arm.

Young is described as white, in his mid-40s, slender, about 5 feet 5 inches, with glasses, some facial hair and golden-brown hair in a ponytail. He is believed to be driving an older, possibly 1980s dark-colored van with Arizona license plate number CGA3392.

Anyone who recognizes these individuals or has any other information is asked to contact Sandy police at 801-568-7200 or at the department’s anonymous tip line, 801-568-INFO.
