Woman shot in head in Taylorsville drive-by

A drive-by shooting left a woman with life-threatening injuries Tuesday night, when she was shot in the head while she was inside a Taylorsville house.

Several bullet holes pocked the house near 4800 South and 1950 West when officers arrived about 5:30 p.m., said Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray.

The woman, 48, was in critical condition late Tuesday at Intermountain Medical Center, Gray said. She remained critical Wednesday.

“We don’t know if the victim was the intended target,” Gray said.

Investigators also didn’t know whether the woman lived at the house or how many others live there, Gray said.

Police are searching for information after discovering little from neighborhood witnesses. One person reported seeing a black or dark-colored car moving south on 1950 West moments after shots rang out.
