Teenager struck and killed by a Utah Transit Authority train

A teenage boy was killed Saturday when he was hit by a Utah Transit Authority train in Weber County.

The 16-year-old was hit by a FrontRunner commuter train about 3 p.m. while on the tracks near 2694 W. 4800 South in Roy, UTA spokesman Carl Arky said.

Arky didn’t release the boy’s name. He said it didn’t appear the teenager got on to the tracks by accident but declined to explain further.

The fatality temporarily delayed southbound trains and stopped northbound FrontRunner trains traveling past Clearfield. A bus system was set up to take passengers between Clearfield, Roy and Ogden, according to UTA. Northbound trains resumed their normal schedule about 7:30 p.m., and the bus system was disbanded.
