A 3-year-old girl found floating in a Riverton swimming pool has died, police confirmed.
Riley Northrop died Monday night, a day after she was found in a neighbor’s above-ground pool near 12700 South and Timpview Drive. Unified police tweeted, “Her organs have been donated so others may live. … Our hearts go out to the family during this very difficult time.”
According to police, the child went outside without her family’s knowledge and climbed a ladder into the neighbor’s pool. She was found by her older sister, who performed CPR. Transported to Riverton Hospital by ambulance, she was flown by helicopter to Primary Children’s Hospital, where she died.
