Alta High School students reimagine famous works of surrealist art in sidewalk chalk

Dozens of Alta High School students stepped outside the classroom on Friday for a different kind of art lesson. The assignment: re-create famous works of surrealist art on the school’s sidewalk in chalk. Students worked in teams of two for four hours to reimagine such famous pieces as “The Wounded Deer” by Frida Kahlo. The event, called “Chalk the Walk,” has been a school tradition since 1985.
