So long rooster, hello Year of the Dog.
Students, families and others on Saturday rang in the Chinese New Year with celebrations at the Salt Lake County Library’s Viridian Event Center in West Jordan. Featured events included a dragon dance, tai chi show, folk music, as well as a pet adoption promotion by Salt Lake County Animal Services. Patrons also could try their hand at origami, calligraphy and lantern making.
The Chinese New Year started Friday, as it follows a lunar calendar. It kicks off one of the world’s most celebrated festivals.
