Fire destroys manufacturing building in Sandy

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Crews from multiple agencies battled a fire Sunday night that broke out at South Valley Specialties at 9320 S. 547 West in Sandy. The building, where the company makes custom rubber moldings and other products, was declared a complete loss. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

A fire that broke out Sunday night engulfed a Sandy business, leaving the building a complete loss.

The blaze started about 8 p.m. at South Valley Specialties at 9320 S. 527 West, according to Sandy Deputy Fire Chief Derek Maxfield.

Maxfield said his department got assistance extinguishing the fire from South Jordan, West Jordan, Murray and the Unified Fire Authority. No one was in the building and there were no injuries, he said.

South Valley Specialties manufactures and distributes custom rubber molding and other products.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
