A water main in Sandy broke Wednesday morning, leaving some residents without water for about five hours.
The break occurred about 7 a.m. near 8000 South and 450 East. It affected an area extending from 7600 South to 8000 South and 300 East to 450 East, a news release from the city said.
The 49 homes within that area were without water, said city spokesman Robin Saville, until service was restored about 12:15 p.m.
The break was likely caused by freezing and thawing, Saville said, which is more common this time of year. There was no flooding at the site, he said.
