A 26-year-old Ogden man has been sentenced to prison for causing the death of his 8-week-old daughter in 2016.

Michael Lee Hatton was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years to life by 2nd District Judge Ernie Jones.

In December, Hatton pleaded guilty to first-degree felony murder.

He admitted inflicting numerous injuries on Avery Hatton, which included brain lacerations, a fractured skull, fractured collar bone, fractured left arm, fractured ribs, and a fractured left leg, according to court documents.

Some of the injuries were older and in the process of healing.

A doctor found that all the fractures were caused by either pulling on the child’s limbs or from “extreme violent shaking,” court documents say.

The baby girl stopped breathing at about 6 p.m. on Oct. 2, 2016, and was taken to a hospital by her mother. She died three days later.
