Woman dies two days after being struck by a car that ran a red light near Festival of Trees

A woman who was struck Thursday when a 17-year-old ran through a red light near the Festival of Trees celebration in Sandy has died, police said Saturday.

About 7 p.m. Thursday, Stephanie Burton, 46, was using the crosswalk at the intersection of 9400 South and 300 East when the car hit her and two others.

Two days later, Burton died. A man and woman who were also critically injured in the wreck have been released from the hospital and are recovering, Lt. Jon Arnold said in a news release.

Police said they are still investigating the crash.
