Salt Lake City hits 68 degrees, making it the warmest Nov. 22 on record

The temperature in Salt Lake City hit 68 degrees on Wednesday, making it the warmest Nov. 22 on record, the National Weather Service reported.

NWS meteorologist Lisa Verzella added that Wednesday’s temperature is the highest since 1874, which is when such things began to be recorded in Salt Lake City.

The NWS later tweeted: ”We’re expecting perhaps the warmest Thanksgiving on record across the state of Utah.”

Earlier Wednesday, Salt Lake City reached 66 degrees, tying a record for the day set in 1926.

The temperature then hit 67, making it the warmest Nov. 22 ever recorded, and climbed another degree to 68, building even more on the record for the day.

A high pressure system will continue bringing above average temperatures to Utah through Sunday, the weather service said.

Highs in Salt Lake City will be in the mid-60s, while temperatures in northern Utah will hover around 60.

St. George will see highs in the low to mid-70s.
