What is The Southern Utah Tribune?

As a nonprofit with a mission to serve communities around Utah, The Salt Lake Tribune launched this new newspaper in October 2025 to serve people in Washington County with news and information that’s just for southern Utah.

We send a monthly print newspaper to 40,000 homes, for free in the mail. We’re also offering a weekly newsletter and regular reporting at southernutahtribune.org.

  • How can I receive the paper?

    If you would like to receive a paper and live outside of the distribution area we appreciate a voluntary donation at southernutahtribune.org/donate. You can also email info@southerutahtribune.org.

    Where can I find the E-edition?

    Go to southernutahtribune.org. The link for the digital replica of the paper is at the top labeled “E-edition.”

    Do you accept celebration announcements?

    How can I advertise?

    The SUT offers print, digital and social advertising solutions. Contact advertising@southernutahtribune.org.

    How can I distribute the paper at my business?

    To give suggestions for drops at local businesses, email CEO and Executive Editor Lauren Gustus at lgustus@sltrib.com.

    How can I donate?

    The SUT is a subsidiary of The Salt Lake Tribune, a 501(c)(3) public charity. Donations make it possible to keep our journalism free for everyone and ensure Southern Utah communities have access to essential, independent news. Gifts are tax deductible.

    How do I submit a letter to the editor?

    You can submit letters up to 300 words on a single topic. Email letters@southernutahtribune.org and put “letter” in the subject line.

    Include:

  • Author’s full name.
  • Address.
  • Phone number.
  • Email address.
  • In-line links to all quotes and facts used.
  • Only the name and city will be published.

    How do I submit an opinion or Voices piece?

    Op-eds should be sent to voices@sltrib.com.

    Sending text in the body of an email is preferred, as attachments do not always arrive in a usable form.

    Requirements:

  • Commentaries must be exclusive to The Tribune, meaning it has not been sent to — or published — anywhere else.
  • 800 words or less.
  • Commentaries must not include name-calling or personal attacks.
  • Commentaries must be timely and southern Utah-related.
  • Commentaries must have in-line links to facts, data, quotes and references.
  • Open letter formats will not be accepted.
  • Contributors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Include recent photography of yourself and a sentence or two of biographical information that includes any experience or expertise in the subject matter addressed.
