There's good news for the Disney Channel and for Utah — the cable outlet has ordered a second season of "Andi Mack."

Production on the second season will resume in July in Salt Lake City and Magna, bringing more Disney dollars to the Beehive State.

"Andi Mack" is a charming half-hour comedy about 13-year-old Andi (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) who navigates middle school while adjusting to the news that the woman (Lilan Bowden) she thought was her older sister is really her mother. And, shortly thereafter, she meets her biological father (Trent Garrett).

According to the Disney Channel, the show is the No. 1 TV series of 2017 to date among Girls 6-11, Girls 9-14 and Girls 6-14. And those are the demographics the channel goes after.

"Andi Mack" is closing in on 40 million views on seven digital platforms, linear TV and social media, and the numbers have increased each week since it premiered.

"There is not another series out right now – on any platform – that speaks to our core demographic with the authenticity and insight that [executive producer] Terri [Minsky] and her creative team have captured with 'Andi Mack,'" said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. "This series and these characters are well on their way to becoming this generation's 'Lizzie McGuire.'"

Season 1 continues on Friday, June 2, at 9:30 p.m. on the Disney Channel. In upcoming episodes, Andi is convinced that her parents are meant to be together. And the boy Andi has a crush on, Jonah Beck (Asher Angel), reaches a pivotal moment in his relationship with his girlfriend, Amber (Emily Skinner).

Lauren Tom, Joshua Rush, Sofia Wylie and Stoney Westmoreland also star.
