Here’s where in Utah to get Christmas dinner, to dine in or take out

Some Utah restaurants provide convenience, while others offer elegance.

With everything we do to prepare for the holidays — decorating, shopping, gift wrapping, mailing out cards, visiting relatives, and so on — it’s a relief to some that there are professionals who will do the cooking.

Here is a listing of restaurants around Utah (primarily in the Salt Lake City area and Park City) that offer buffets, special multi-course meals and takeout items on or around Christmas. Many require reservations and are filling up fast, so start making plans now.

Takeout (Salt Lake County)

Arlo • 271 Center St., Salt Lake City, 385-266-8845; ArloRestaurant.com • Arlo is accepting preorders for a Christmas take-home meal kit, which includes all the sides needed for a Christmas Day or Christmas Eve dinner, plus dessert and a beverage. The kit feeds four to six people. Pickup is Wednesday, Dec. 24th between 1 and 2 p.m. Price is $235.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit • 2592 S. 5600 West, West Valley City, 866-227-2328; Dickeys.com • Heat-and-serve holiday feasts include your choice of prime rib or spiral-cut ham, plus sides and rolls. Feeds up to 12 people; starts at $135. Holiday ready-to-serve meals are also available.

Gourmandise • 250 S. 300 East, Salt Lake City, 801-328-3330; 725 E. 12300 South, Draper, 801-571-1500; Gourmandise.com • Gourmandise is taking pre-orders for a “build your own” Christmas brunch, with items priced individually — including quiche lorraine ($28), vegetable hash with tomato tarragon sauce ($18), cheddar-chive-bacon scones ($13.90 for a pack of four), blueberry or vanilla brown-butter scones ($12.90 for a pack of four), warm-and-serve cinnamon rolls ($12.90 for a pack of four) and bacon ($22 for 16 ready-to-eat strips). Pickup is on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Place orders on Toast.

Hill’s Kitchen • 2188 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City, 385-563-3555; hills-kitchen.com • The catering company tied to the Hearth & Hill and Urban Hill restaurants is offering a Christmas Eve dinner — beef ribeye roast, peppercorn-crusted salmon, roasted fennel and winter squash, herb-roasted fingerling potatoes and honey-roasted carrots — that serves four for $160. Order before Saturday, Dec. 20; pickup available on Wednesday, Dec. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Hill’s Kitchen is also offering several Christmas desserts, which can be preordered and then picked up Wednesday, Dec. 24, between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Preorders can be placed by calling 385-563-3555, or order online at hills-kitchen.com.

R&R BBQ • Four locations in Salt Lake County: Riverton, South Jordan, Midvale, Salt Lake City; randrbbq.com • Holiday packs can be ordered online, in-store or by phone. Pickup dates are Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 22-24, at any R&R location. Holiday ham pack is $170; “everything but the ham” pack of sides is $115; a smoked ham is $75, and feeds 8 to 10 people. Sides also available a la carte.

STK Steakhouse • 111 S. 300 West, Salt Lake City, 385-235-6376; STKSteakhouse.com • Free-range turkey dinner or prime rib available for takeout on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25. Preorders start Dec. 10, at stksteakhouse.com.

Also, a Christmas Eve early dinner (honey-miso focaccia; prawn fat-basted Carolina monkfish; brioche-encased “Cider Baked” Lan-Roc pork collar; Wagyu beef short rib bourguignon; a selection of desserts; and cookies for Santa), Wednesday, Dec. 24; $155 per person, $65 for children 12 and under. On Christmas Eve, the restaurant will offer specials: Farro Risotto ($22), chicken roulade ($28), poached Chilean sea bass ($42) or elk chop ($62), with sticky gingerbread cake ($11) for dessert, Wednesday, Dec. 24, 4 to 9 p.m. Reservations available on the restaurant’s website.
