Social media was buzzing in Utah this week over a rumor that the popular Texas gas station chain Buc-ee’s would be building a location in Spanish Fork.
Turns out, it was all just talk.
On Wednesday, the city of Spanish Fork posted the following on its Facebook account:
“Some say if you whisper ‘Buc-ee’s’ three times at sunset, a beaver appears with a brisket sandwich. That’s about as real as the Texas-sized rumor going around. Should that ever change, we’ll let you know.”
The Salt Lake Tribune reached out to Buc-ee’s to confirm or deny the rumor. In response, a media coordinator for the company said, “We have no comment at this time.”
The convenience store’s website does list future Buc-ee’s locations, but Utah isn’t mentioned. States that are include Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Arkansas and South Carolina.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Buc-ee’s popularity stems from its food selection (including items like the Bucky the Beaver nuggets, jerky, barbecue and more), squeaky-clean bathrooms and “small-town charm.”
