Shoppers who wish they could quaff an ice-cold Coke with their Costco hot dog are now in luck.
After more than a decade of the retailer selling primarily Pepsi products at its food courts, Costco has switched to Coca-Cola products and is making that change across all of its warehouse stores, according to Fox Business.
By the fall, all of Costco’s food courts — including 14 in Utah — will offer Coca-Cola products, Fox Business reports.
By Monday afternoon, Costco stores in Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Bountiful, Sandy and South Jordan had made the change, according to food court workers. The store in Lehi is switching over Monday night, one Costco employee said.
Costco locations in Murray and Spanish Fork are making the change this week. Riverton and Orem will be switching over next week. Logan is changing over on July 30, Ogden will switch by the end of July, and St. George is switching in August.
The employee who answered the phone at the Saratoga Springs store said they didn’t know when the change would be happening.
“Costco insiders and Coca-Cola fans are buzzing about the transition, which will span warehouses in 14 countries,” Coca-Cola told Fox Business.
Costco CEO Ron Vachris announced the switch to Coca-Cola products at the retailer’s annual shareholders meeting in January, CNN Business reported.
According to CNN Business, Costco solicits bids from companies to have their fountain drinks featured in Costco stores’ food courts, and Pepsi was awarded the contract in 2013. Before that, Coca-Cola has been the featured product for decades.
