If you’ve driven along 500 South in downtown Salt Lake City on your way to Interstate 15, you’ve most likely seen the sign that reads “Brunch’n hard soon” on a building with a lot of windows.
After at least a year of that sign being up, trendy brunch spot Sunday’s Best is nearly set to open. On Wednesday, June 18, a spokesperson for the restaurant said the opening was delayed; no new date had been set.
Located in Salt Lake City’s Post District at 500 South and 300 West (the exact address is 505 S. Gale St.), Sunday’s Best was described in a news release as a “tropical-inspired brunch oasis.”
The building’s second floor will open as a rooftop Champagne and cocktail lounge called Sunday School.
“Sunday School is your first cheers to any night out,” founder and owner Michael McHenry said in a statement. “This sun-kissed rooftop was thoughtfully designed to make you feel like you’re stepping into sunshine.”
Once they open, Sunday’s Best and Sunday School will join other food and drink businesses in the Post District, like Urban Hill, Level Crossing Brewing Company, Urban Sailor Coffee, Mensho Ramen, Dangerous Pretzel and Melancholy Wine & Cocktail Lounge.
Sunday’s Best has two other locations: in Sandy, at 10672 S. State St.; and inside Concourse B of the Salt Lake City International Airport.
