(Photo courtesy of FDA) Sabra Dipping Co. is recalling 10-ounce tubs of its "Classic Hummus" for possible salmonella contamination.

Containers of hummus produced by the Sabra Dipping Co. — and distributed to 16 states including Utah — are being voluntarily recalled after salmonella contamination was found in a sample of the product.

The recall is for the 10-ounce tubs of Classic Hummus, according to the company’s recall notice, which was posted Tuesday by the Food and Drug Administration. The affected containers will have a best-before date of April 26 and UPC No. 300067.

No other Sabra products are affected by the recall. The product is over halfway through its shelf life, the announcement said, so it is unlikely to be found in grocery stores.

No illnesses or consumer complaints have been reported in connection with this recall.

In addition to Utah, the 2,100 cases of affected hummus also were distributed in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, New Jersey, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.

Consumers can contact Sabra consumer relations at 866-265-6761 for additional information. Consumers who have bought the specific recalled product can return it to the place of purchase or visit www.sabrahummusrecall.com for a reimbursement.
