Two Salt Lake City liquor stores reopen after cleaning. Employee had tested positive for COVID-19.

Two Salt Lake City liquor stores that closed earlier this week reopened Friday at 11 a.m., according to the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

On Monday, the DABC temporarily shuttered the stores at 205 W. 400 South and 1255 W. North Temple, after an one employee — who worked at both outlets — tested positive for the coronavirus.

DABC spokesman Terry Wood said the stores were professionally cleaned and sanitized, and the agency is shuffling employees from other outlets to fill slots at the North Temple store.

This week, the DABC also extended hours. Now all state-owned stores are open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The agency is still limiting the number of customers who can be in stores at any one time, which can result in lines outside. Patrons are asked to stand 6 feet apart while waiting to enter. Customers also are encouraged to wear masks inside the store for the protection of employees and other patrons.
