Two of Ballet West’s most prominent dancers are adding baby booties to their toe shoe collection.
Dancers Allison DeBona and Rex Tilton announced on her Twitter feed Wednesday that “Our Pas de Deux is officially a Pas de Trois.” In English, they’re having a baby, due in December.
The tweet included a photo of the pair, showing off the tiniest of baby bumps.
DeBona is a first soloist with Ballet West and joined the Salt Lake City-based troupe in 2007. Tilton is one of the troupe’s principal artists and joined Ballet West in 2008.
Together, they are artistic directors of artÉmotion, a two-week intensive summer dance workshop held in Cleveland, Detroit and Park City in partnership with the Ballet West Academy.
The two started dating in 2009 and were married in December 2016. Their romance was captured in the reality-TV show “Breaking Pointe,” which depicted DeBona as the troupe’s ambitious, sometimes tactless bad girl.
DeBona is dancing this weekend in Africa Guzman’s “Sweet and Bitter” for the National Choreographic Festival, the final program of Ballet West’s season. When the new season starts in August, she will work in administration until her due date in December. A Ballet West spokesman said she hopes to return to the stage in April 2019 to dance in “Onegin.”
