Utahns can travel back to Panem, Hogwarts, the Caribbean and Isla Nublar this year — all from the comfort of a luxury movie theater chair — and for just $5 a ticket.

Regional movie chain Megaplex Theatres is set to revisit four famous movie franchises — “The Hunger Games,” “Harry Potter,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Jurassic Park” throughout 2026 as part of its MegaplexReelDeals program, which offers screenings at a discounted price.

George Reynolds, marketing director for Miller Sports + Entertainment, the parent company of the chain, said MegaplexReelDeals is, “a way for our customers to see their favorite movies the way they were meant to be seen. We really believe in that big screen experience.”

Reynolds said the inspiration to start this program in 2024 stemmed from an audience demand to watch older movies again.

“We wanted to bring these back, but we also wanted to do it in an affordable way,” Reynolds said.

Movie fanatics can either buy single tickets to separate movies in a certain franchise, or buy tickets to a “MegaMarathon” where all the movies in a series are shown back-to-back in a day with breaks for meals.

For example, the theaters will “Return to Panem” — the world of “The Hunger Games” from Jan. 17 to Feb. 19. The MegaMarathon for all five of the currently released movies costs $50 for an unlimited popcorn and drink package and $120 for a meal package.

They’ve also brought back standalones like “Shrek” and “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” in the past.

In the past two years, Megaplex estimates that the program has brought in “thousands” of extra guests to their theaters.

“We’ve seen a lot of added traffic to our theatres and it’s helpful especially during slow periods. The non-blockbuster periods,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds said the program has drawn a wide range of moviegoers, from film buffs to children attending with parents or grandparents.

“It’s cool, it almost passes on these memories from generation to generation,” he said.
