Whitney’s grief turns to anger at Lisa in ‘The Real Housewives of SLC’

Is Monica the new Jen on this show?

Old fights and new fights dominate the Nov. 28 episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” in which Lisa Barlow plays a very big role.

Is Monica the new Jen?

Heather Gay is concerned about Monica Garcia’s mood swings and explosive anger. “She could be up and happy and charming and fun, and then angry and vicious and mean,” she says. “And then also just detached and vacant. ... It kind of reminds me of Jen [Shah].”

Whitney is grief-stricken

Whitney Rose learns that her best friend, Shari, has died of cancer. “And I have no idea how to cope with that,” she says. She attends the launch event for Meredith Marks’ new jewelry line, starts drinking and takes her grief out on Lisa in the form of anger. It gets ugly.

Lisa is busy this episode

Lisa goes to lunch with Meredith, and they do not see eye to eye. Lisa unknowingly echoes what Meredith said earlier this season about Angie: “There’s so much low-hanging fruit around Monica. Like, if I wanted to attack, it wouldn’t be hard.” Meredith accurately points out that that is “very similar” to what she (Meredith) said about Angie — that she had info that could ruin her life. Lisa, however, takes offense to that and says that what Meredith did was “disgusting” and “icky.”

(Bravo) Jack Barlow, 18, and his mother, Lisa Barlow.

Lisa is completely out of her element when she and her husband, John, take their son, Jack, shopping for clothes for his mission. She wants to buy jack teal and red suits, and argues that missionaries “don’t need to forget fashion.” Jack rolls his eyes and says he should’ve come shopping with just his father.

Whitney is crazy mad at Lisa for not immediately consoling her at Meredith’s event. Lisa doesn’t know what to say to Whitney, but doesn’t help herself when she says, “I can’t always keep a mental calculator of everything going on.” Whitney calls her a “bitch,” and repeatedly condemns her for her lack of “self-awareness.” (Whitney appears to be inebriated.)

• Lisa is crazy mad about Whitney’s attack. She drops multiple f-bombs, and tearfully tells the production team to “stop right now.” And she wants her body mic off. (It’s like when she had the hot mic rant aimed at Meredith toward the end of Season 2. Only this time, she takes the mic off.)

(Charles Sykes | Bravo) Mary Cosby on a recent episode of "Watch What Happens Live."

Mary offers surprisingly good advice

Mary advises Monica to take Lisa “for who she is. It’s going to bother you to hold a grudge.” It is good advice. But Monica hits the nail on the head when she says that Mary “gives great advice. She might not be great at taking her own advice. Those that can’t do, teach.”

Monica apologizes to both Heather and Lisa

Heather is wary of Monica’s apology. She “can’t help that there are alarm bells going off.” Lisa is flattered by Monica’s effusive praise, and the two declare they’re “fine” with each other.
