A lemonade stand. Couples breaking into spontaneous swing dancing. A performer riffing on a tenor saxophone. It was all there on Saturday, as the nonprofit organization Heart & Soul brought people together across the Highland Park neighborhood in Sugar House during its 9th annual Music Stroll.

Featuring 40 musical acts and food trucks, the event moved across front porches, driveways and lawns and on the main stage at the neighborhood’s Imperial Park.

Heart & Soul’s stated mission is to “bring hope, healing and joy to 28,000 people each year by producing live shows at convalescent homes, senior centers, hospitals, centers for children with disabilities, psychiatric facilities, domestic abuse shelters and prisons.” The organization started in 1994 and works to “enrich the soul and promote wellness through the healing power of the performing arts.”
