A ‘friend’ of ‘The Real Housewives of SLC’ says Jen swindled her out of $15,000

Angie K. seemed happy to host Sharrieff’s birthday party, but now she’s mad.

In the latest episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” Angie Katsanevas ramps up her campaign to become a series regular, going after Jen Shah and accusing her of being a swindler. And, yes, Jen is headed for prison after pleading guilty to swindling people out of their savings.

Although we saw Angie K. happily planning and hosting a birthday party for Jen’s husband and had heard nary a word of complaint, she gets bent way out of shape when Jen pours champagne on her head. It seems very much like Angie K. is trying to amp up the drama with an eye toward being promoted to series regular.

Sharrieff’s birthday party cost $15,000 • So says Angie K., although the numbers are confusing. She says she spent $3,000 for flowers; $4,000 for the bar; $600 for the cake; $750 for the piano; $4,000 for the catering; $1,500 for the dance floor; $500 for cleanup; $900 for dancers; $3,000 for casino tables; $1,500 for tables; and $4,000 for appetizers.

That may not have been the full list and might have been repetitive ($4,000 for catering and $4,000 for appetizers?), and it totaled $23,750, by the way.

Angie K. says Jen has not thanked or reimbursed her • Jen says Angie K. never sent her a bill, and points out she gave Angie K. a $5,000 necklace (there’s video of that), which Angie K. says she plans to return: “The last thing I want to do is keep this necklace and be in public and have the Southern District of New York find me and take the necklace off my neck.”

Jen’s legal bills are big. • Jen tells her husband, University of Utah assistant football coach Sharrieff Shah, that another $200,000 payment is due to her lawyers. She’s concerned about that because Sharrieff Jr. is going to medical school. Sharrieff says, “It’s a lot.”

The fun rules • Jen’s rules for a group trip to San Diego are: No. 1: Have fun. No. 2: Have fun. No. 3: “Don’t be a bitch, unless you’re a fun bitch.” And Jen’s definition of a “fun bitch” is “You say [expletive] you with your [breasts] out.”

The trip is tense • How tense? Whitney Rose says, “It is like if I had a zit on my forehead, it’d pop itself.”

Dispute over the master bedroom • In San Diego, Angie K. claims the master bedroom in the house where the women are staying, which upsets Jen. And Whitney Rose sides with Jen “because there is a big possibility that she might be spending the next couple of years in a 6 by 9 foot jail cell.”

Meredith is worried about Jen • And she doesn’t think Angie K.’s attacks are helping. “I know that she is not in a very great mental state,” Meredith says, “and having it be exacerbated by friends who are not very supportive. ... I feel like she is hitting a breaking point. ... It’s frightening.”

The next episode of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” airs Wednesday, Dec. 7, on Bravo — 7 p.m. on Dish and DirecTV; 10 p.m. on Comcast. Previous episodes can be streamed via Peacock or on demand.
