Equality Utah has scheduled its first in-person Allies Gala fundraiser since 2019, and has booked comedian Eddie Izzard to headline the event.

(The 2020 and 2021 galas had to be canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.)

The British actor and comedian is best known for her standup comedy, but Izzard also has a long list of acting credits in both movies and television — everything from “Hannibal” to “Victoria and Abdul,” “The Simpsons” to “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.” She won a pair of Emmys for her 1999 standup comedy special “Dressed to Kill,” and she’s a transgender activist.

Izzard last performed at the Eccles in June 2019, on her “Wunderbar” tour.

Tickets are available online, through EqualityUtah.org. Individual tickets are $295 — access to general reception and after-party is an additional $100. Third-tier seats are $195. And corporate sponsorships are available in packages costing $3,500, $6,500, $10,000, $15,000, $30,000 and $50,000.

Proceeds will go to support Equality Utah’s programs and lobbying efforts.

How should one dress for the event? Troy Williams, Equality Utah’s executive director, offered this advice: “Darling, just look to the stars to find your inspiration. Let your imagination inform your fashion, from DIY to high couture. Glide across the universe and our red carpet in a look befitting a starchild. Be inspired by quasars, supermoons and ultraviolet cosmic fractals. Whatever illuminates up your personal style.”
