DVD • Thank goodness "Guardians of the Galaxy" is around to remind everyone at Marvel Studios and their DC rivals that comic-book movies are supposed to be, you know, fun. No "Dark Knight" brooding, "Captain America" political conspiracies or "Iron Man" introspection here.
Director James Gunn mounts a robust space opera about a group of ragtag lowlifes — orphaned human Peter "Star-Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt), assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana), big bruiser Drax (Dave Bautista), cyber-altered talking raccoon Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and talking tree Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) — who are the only ones to prevent the end of the universe.
All to a hilarious dance mix of '70s hits. What's not to like?
