One Utah theater will play ‘Star Wars’ teaser on Friday

In this video grab made available by Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM on Thursday, May 22, 2014, J.J. Abrams, director of "Star Wars: Episode VII," talks to the fans from the movie set in the desert in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Walt Disney Pictures announced Thursday, Nov. 6, that the movie previously known only as “Episode VII” has been dubbed “The Force Awakens.” Disney also said that principle photography has wrapped on the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel six months after beginning. The film will be released in December 2015. (AP Photo/Lucasfilm Ltd., File)

Only 30 theaters across America will get to see the first teaser trailer for the new "Star Wars" movie on Friday. One of them is in Utah.

The Cinemark 24 Jordan Landing, at 7301 S. Jordan Landing Blvd. in West Jordan, is on the list of theaters that will play the 88-second teaser for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" on Friday morning, according to the "Star Wars" website.

No word on exactly when or how the teaser will be screened, though it seems a safe bet that Disney (which now owns LucasFilm and the "Star Wars" franchise) will attach it to its current big movie, "Big Hero 6."

The teaser will be seen more widely in December — and, of course, bootleg versions will show up online sometime Friday morning.
