‘Mormon Land’: LDS Church‘s first-ever mission president in Vietnam talks about the faith’s work in a country once torn by war

More than 40 years after Americans were in Vietnam fighting a controversial war, Mormon missionaries are in the Southeast Asian nation spreading a gospel of peace.

In the latest “Mormon Land,” Salt Lake Tribune senior religion reporter Peggy Fletcher Stack interviews Lewis Hassell face to face in Hanoi, where he oversees the Utah-based faith’s first-ever Vietnam Mission.
