Northern Utah's new work week began with rain, and more showers, punctuated by thunderstorms, and water-laden, dark clouds will return again on Tuesday and Wednesday, too.

Listen. Through the dawn mist the specter of bluesman Lonnie Johnson's soaring, single-string notes and soulful crooning declare that the "storm is risin', and the rain begin to fall [with] blues, fallin' down like drops of rain."

The forecast Tuesday, a refrain of Monday, calls for one rain shower after another and isolated thunder and lightning along the Wasatch Front. Wednesday, too, will be wet and breezy. High temperatures will range in the mid- to upper-50s on the Salt Lake and Tooele valleys.

Southern Utahns dodge the rainfall, but winds of 10-30 mph and highs low- to upper-70s will prevail into the midweek period.

The Utah Division of Air Quality, ever the fan of windy, wet conditions, forecast "green," or healthy breathing conditions statewide for the next couple says.

The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website listed mulberry at "very high," while sycamore and oak were "high," and cottonwood, maple, cedar and ash came in at "moderate" on the site's pollen index as of Monday.
