Kids play jurors in Salt Lake Acting Company’s new trial of the Big, Bad Wolf

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) l-r Alexander T. Wolf, played by Derek Gregerson, is brought to court by Rocky, played by Trevor B. Dean ,during Salt Lake Acting Company's annual children's show, "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs," running through Dec. 29.

On Wednesday morning, schoolkids overwhelmingly oinked and squealed their verdict freeing the charming Alexander T. Wolf (Derek Gregerson) — aka “big and bad” — on trial in a Piggsylvania court for huffing and puffing and, well, killing two little pigs.

“Permission to break into song,” ruled a pink-collared Judge Juris Prudence (Betsy West) from the bench.

The kid jurors from Open Classroom and Park View elementary schools voted before the closing act of Salt Lake Acting Company’s “The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs,” a fractured fairy tale of a musical.

The performance was one of nine shows in the Title 1 Arts Education Program; the public is invited to evening and matinee shows at Salt Lake Acting Company on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 29. (Ticket information at 801-363-7522 or www.saltlakeactingcompany.org.)
